School Curriculum

Physical Education (PE) is for children from junior infants to sixth class. The curriculum contributes to children’s overall development by helping them to lead full, active and healthy lives. Our school concentrates on a particular PE curriculum strand each month as well as a fundamental movement skill also.

The PE curriculum provides a balanced range of activities for children through the six strands:

  • Athletics
  • Dance
  • Gymnastics
  • Games
  • Outdoor and adventure activities
  • Aquatics.

The fundamental movement skills are:

  • Throwing
  • Catching
  • Running
  • Balancing
  • Coordination
  • Agility

Facilities

Here at school Iósaf we are very lucky to have a wide range of facilities for our children in order for them to stay active, enjoy their break times, P.E.time and Extracurricular activities. These include:

  • Large Playground area for students from 3rd to 6th class
  • Smaller yard for lower classes
  • Soft ground playground with slide, sea saw, playhouse, balancing bridge, rocking ladybug
  • Small soccer field with goals
  • Large green area to the side of the school
  • Large indoor hall with stage and basketball hoop
  • Scoil Iósaf also avail of the nearby GAA grounds in the local secondary school on request
  • Sensory room
  • Outdoor Nature walk

Little Limbo and Little Obstacles!

The Junior and senior infants really enjoyed active week with Limbo and obstacle courses on the yard. The committee helped them and they had great fun. Integrated with our athletics and outdoor and adventure strand! They had a great time!
